Beyond diagnostic labels

Not every difficulty fits neatly into a diagnosis, and that is okay. You do not need to have a disorder for your experiences to matter. Sometimes painful, frightening or overwhelming things happen, and our thoughts, feelings, bodies and ways of coping can be understandable responses to what we have been through.

We are open and willing to explore what is happening for you as an individual. One approach we may draw on is the Power Threat Meaning Framework. In simple terms, it asks: What has happened to you? How did it affect you? What meaning have you made of it? And what has helped you survive or cope? Together, we can create a personal understanding of your story and find ways forward that fit you, rather than forcing your experience into a label.
